Duringthese times, he was one of the most notable performers in the country and promotors fought for his services.During a time of segregation, Ernie Ladd became the first main eventblack heel in the Mid South area.Nationally, hemade avery successful livingbydrawing intense hatred from these crowds and was noted as being one of the most colorful interviews in the sport.
In the wake of his fight with cancer, Mr. Ladd "shoots" for the first time ever in a tremendously open interview.

THIS IS AN GREAT SHOOT FOR ANY AFRICAN AMERICAN TO VIEW. MANY PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE THAT THE ERNIE LADD WAS APART OF THE MOVEMENT THAT GAVE AFRICAN AMERICAN'S GREAT OPPERTUNITY IN SPORTS THROUGH FOOTBALL AND WRESTLING. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST SHOOT INTERVIEWS THAT I HAVE SEEN.

A shoot interview with the first Black heel of professional wrestling. Ernie talks about why he was forced to go into professional wrestling after his injuries in the AFL. Despite the racism in his days as a wrestler, he talks about making more money than his white counterparts on the west coast.
He talks about his walk with God with such passion; and the fact that his wife could not believe it. Ernie talks about his football career (College and Pro) and how good his college team really was. And the bonus wrestling footage vs. Tony Atlas reminds you how big Ernie Ladd was in the ring. And the crowd went nuts.
