Very disappointed. This documentary only allows you to hear what Vince McMahon wants you to hear about ECW. No person that is part of WWE has any business making dvds of ECW, because they can't. ECW was a low budget success story that was paying talent top dollars. This dvd made ECW out to have never made it in the pro wrestling business. I recommend Forever Hardcore if you want to know all about ECW.

Its an awesome DVD! I wnet into watching it barely knowing anything about ECW, and now I LOVE ECW! And I also loved the extra matches that come with it (personally, my favorite was the Dreamer/Raven. That was a roller coaster match!) If you love ECW; you'll love this DVD. If you're in the dark about the history of ECW; you'll learn to love it. And isn't that all that matters?

this is the most amazing dvd i have ever seen. The extras are amazing.
1. Pitbulls vs Raven and richards- one of the best matches
2. Mysterio vs Psicosis- great mexican action
3. Whipwreck vs Sandman- Mikey took so much pain it is insane
4. Scorpio vs Sabu- It looks like he almost died when he landed on that table in the crowd
5. Dreamer vs Raven- Buelah is hot. I hate Jerry Lawler. So much action
6. Bigelow vs Taz- How are both of those men still living
7. Van Dam vs Lynn- the greatest wrestling match i have ever seen
If you want to know the true story, buy it

I'm not really a fan of ECW, nor do I know much of it; but I loved this DVD.... I manily bought it because I'm a big fan of documentary-like wrestling DVDs, and it was worth it.

P.S.: Oh, yeah, I don;t know why, but my DVD doesn't have the Taz vs. Bam Bam Bigelow Easter Egg... if anyone can help me, please do because it's kind of weird.

i liked the 2 disk ecw dvd but the funny thing was that the forever hardcore dvd mechined alot of stuff that rise of fall dvd like the the sandman incident kurt walks out ecw the birth of ecw shane vs the nwa title did but in a different way

there was stuff that the rise and fall mechined that the forever hardcore did not mechine and the forever hardcore one mechined alot of stuff that the rise and fall did not mechine

i think that wwe should make another rise and fall of ecw dvd and have stuff that they should have menchined that happened in ecw like the xpw riot ecw joins wcw to invated wwf storyline the ecw one night stand ppv tazz loses the ecw title to dreamer raven returns to ecw the last ecw ppv the last ecw show at the ecw arena

if they make another ecw rise and fall dvd should mechine more stuff about the stuff that happened in ecw that was on the 1st ecw rise and fall dvd

i think that the matchs on disk 2 from the rise and fall of ecw was not that good because some of the matchs were not the greatest matchs and the only 2 good matchs on the dvd i think were the pitbulls vs raven and stevie richards in a 2 out of 3 falls dog collar match and the tommy dreamer vs raven in a lose leave ecw match

thank god wwe and ecw is making a new 2 disk ecw dvd called the bloodist matchs in ecw

The Rise and Fall of ECW is the the best Hardcore DVD this world has yet to see. This DVD has an exellent choice of extra matches, like Sabu vs. Too Scold Scorpio. This DVD has Daredevil moves and a whole lot of action. Also the documentary is well put together. It explains all you need to know about how ECW fell to the competion. This is a must buy. Enjoy.

Great 3 hour Documentary, the matches except Van Dam/Lynn are trashy, but still a really good DVD.

I became an ECW fan relatively late in but when I became a fan I really got into it. I never thought that ECW's history could be documented so well (especially by WWE), but the WWE have done a great job of putting it together and they let all of the key players tell the story. The best wrestling DVD I think I've ever seen (with the exception of the Ultimate Ric Flair), the 3 hour documentary is amazing, even though the extras aren't all that great, definitely worth a look even if you weren't a fan.

I got my copy at a local store. By watching this DVD, ECW would be still alive if it wasn't the BS they suffered though then-TNN with their lack of promise of commericals whice ECW could made lots of money. Also ECW couldn't get a new TV contract with another cable network if it wasn't for then-TNN. The extras on the DVD is outstanding. If you never watched a ECW event or tv episode, you won't believe the talent they have in the past that is on currently on WWE programming.

as a long time ecw fan i have to gice the wwf some credit wqhere it is due. thaye finally have done ecw justice. all of the matches are great with the exceptiopn of the lame commentary on the rvd jerry lynn match (micheal cole is the biggest queen in pro wrestling). if i have one fault with this dvd it is that they could have done a third disc with some dudley boys matches and some impact players how could they be left out. all in all it is a must have if you are an ecw fan. long live ec f'n w

I never watched the ECW when it was on, but I'm a fan of wrestling history and love to know the backgrounds of my favorite wrestlers. Durring the WCW/ECW Alliance angle of 2001, I really got hooked on learning about the histories of WCW and ECW.

The Monday Night Wars DVD was good, but The Rise and Fall of ECW is exceptional.

Don't listen to complainers gripe that this is only a two disk set, because you get plenty. The feature is about three hours long, and very well done, and the extras include seven full matches.

I'm not a huge fan of grungy hardcore wrestling like ECW's, but I loved seeing the history: Shane Douglas turning away the NWA title and raising the ECW belt, Taz facing Triple H on Raw in an ECW vs. WWF champions match, and the history of all the great superstars that passed through ECW. You'll also have a new appreciation for Paul Heyman and his contribution to sports-entertainment.

For twenty-two bucks, you get more than your monies worth - and I'm sure with the strong sales this DVD is generating, the WWE will follow with more great content in the future.

I was never a big fan of ECW during its prime. When I first discovered it, back in I think 1995, I thought it was interesting because it was so much more out of control than the then WWF, but I was hardly consider myself a fan.

This DVD however was interesting to me. Since there is no competition anymore, I wanted to see and hear why ECW was considered so great. Done with the DVD production that only the WWE can do.

The actual feature is just shy of 3 hours, and is very involved. It goes into all aspects of the company and talks with all the major players involved. I really enjoyed the frankness that Tommy Dreamer, Taz, Bischoff, Vince and Paul Heyman all talked about the product. Many guys you can tell miss it. It was great to see a guy like Heyman, with such a vision and a passion to make his idea grow, and it takes a hell of a man to admit when it's over.

This takes a look at just about the entire run of ECW from the inception to the first pay per view to the closing of it's doors and Paul Heyman emerging in the WWE. It is very hard to say how well this is all put together, but it is done really well.

For true fans there might be things missing, but I personally felt that I now understand why it was so popular, and quite honestly after seeing it, you can see especially now how watered down the WWE is, not so much the wrestling, but the characters. You also can truly feel how influential they were in changing the style of wrestling and use of talent. A very gracious Rey Mysterio Jr. thanks Paul Heyman for being involved in getting his name known in the states.

The DVD goes into history of angles, and how certain stories were told. To hear Heyman talk with such passion, this is a man that loved wrestling. You can tell he hates to see it go. If the WWE was smart this guy would be the top creative guy, he has vision, just don’t let him near the money.

Do I wish there was more? Of course. This could have easily been a 3-disc set. I wish there was more RVD and I wish more time was spent of Steve Austin. Chris Jericho talks about ECW, but unfortunately he doesn’t get a match on the disc (maybe they’ll put on his DVD one day) As for the extras, well I haven’t watched them yet, but I can tell you I would have enjoyed seeing a lot more RVD, especially the RAW match from 1997 vs. Jeff Hardy (I know that wasn’t exactly an ECW match, but it was during the cross promotion era) I would love to have that match in DVD quality. Plus I think that at a mere 7 matches, that does not do justice to showing what ECW is all about. All in all an excellent DVD that satisfies the “Hardcore fans” as well as the uninitiated.

All I can say is wow. They cover all the bases of ECW's history. The Formation of the company, the breakup with the NWA, The Night the line was crossed, the WWE/ECW Crossover, the Sandman's Crucifixion, Barely Legal, just about everything. Except full matches. For all the matches that are talked about and clipped on the main disc, none are truely shown in their entirety (atleast shows full, unedited parts talked about in the main program as an easter egg). The WWE tried their best to include everything, but missed some key ECW moments; The Chair Shot Heard Round the World, Malenko vs Guerrero 2 of 3 falls, ECW heads to Japan and feuds with FMW (True the FMW footage is owned by TokyoPop, but they could atleast mention it)

2 Discs aren't enough to house the mad house that was ECW. 3 discs would've been better, more than 7 full matches, some of ECW's bloodier feuds and matches especially. It's a great effort on the part of the WWE to go back and show all of what ECW once was without playing the role of the sole victor in the promotion wars as they have in the past.

This DVD is great for the fan that wants to reminice about what was so great about ECW and what made it special. Also it's great for teh new wrestling fan that has never seen anything of ECW. But if your looking for the all in all best compilation, keep looking. This is a great addition to anyone's collection.
