ReviewsAverage Customer Rating: Based on 2 reviews. Write a reviewRating: - Marquee Wrestling Reviewer: MadMikeyD from Selfridge ANGB, Michigan Awesome indy tape from Michigan! Michigan is quickly becoming a wrestling hotbed again and the talent on this tape is a big reason why. The three-way for the Marquee Wrestling Championship ('Amazing' N8 Mattson vs. Truth Martini vs. Chris Sabin) alone is worth the price of the video. And the fact that two rising national stars, WWE's Zach Gowen and TNA's Chris Sabin, appear adds to the tapes value. The matches are all very good and the commentary, replays, and graphics all add to the overall professionalism of the presentation. The tape loses a star because the in-ring mic work is nearly impossible to make out, and the ring enterances have been cut out, but overall this video is a must for fans of great indy action!Rating: - Marquee Wrestling Reviewer: Likum105 from Chesterfield, Michigan I bought the Marquee Wrestling video back in February and was really impressed with it. Here's a few thoughts on the tape:
The intro video has background music and briefly shows a few seconds from various matches. It looks VERY professional.
The video is shot from at least two cameras. One is a stationary camera and the other is "fan cam". Views switch from one to the other VERY smoothly.
There is Instant Reply on this video. It usually shows the finishing move of the match. Yet another professional feature.
The commentary is decent. For you WWE fans, you may be confused by the Marquee commentaries. You see, they actually talk about the CURRENT match and call the moves as they happen. It's odd to listen to Hall cheer for the heels.
The look of the tape is good. The house lights were fully on during the whole show and it was easy to see all the action. Another plus.
A bad point is that the mic work of Maverick couldn't be heard clearly. I'm not sure if this improves later in the tape or not.
The other negative is that the crowd was a bit light because of a snowstorm the same night as the show. This in turn made a fairly 'quiet' show.
So based upon what I've seen, this is a great tape for any Michigan indies fan. I'll gladly put this against any East Coast video.
========== Onto the matches: Gavin Starr vs. Matt Maverick was the match to establish Maverick as a top heel.
Tenacious Z vs. Matt Maverick showcased just a FRACTION of the kid now known as Zach Gowen on WWE's Smackdown. This REALLY got the crowd into the show!
Magnum Conroy vs. "The Hype" Jimmy Shalwin was just average to me.
"Jumpin'" Jimmy Jacobs vs. Frankie the Face began the serious side of Jacobs. Both of these wrestlers attended the "Blue Bloods" training seminar and it shows. There is ALOT of mat-wrestling, reversals and submission holds. A good match for technical wrestling fans.
Andy Muscat vs. Nate "Spyder" Webb was a good highflying & risk taking match. It's similar to an "X-Division" type of match. Muscat gets injured during the match, but it's not noticable. He STILL performs his "Supafly Splash" from the top rope!
Big Vito vs. Johnny Swinger attracted many fans to the show. Despite being the biggest names on the show, they still worked hard for the fans in attendence. I was very pleasantly surprised about the quality of this match.
The main event is a Triangle Match for the Marquee Title between Chris Sabin vs. Amazing N8 vs. Truth Martini. This match is worth the price of the video alone! It matches ANY Ring of Honor match I've witnessed. There are tons of great & innovative 3-way moves. Despite this, the match does not end up being just a spotfest. The action is hot and heavy, but the finish makes sense. |
