August 5th, 1994, fans packed Knoxville Tennessee's Civic Coliseum to see a celebration of the past, present and future. Wrestling's biggest stars joined its future greats to hold an all-star card honoring the history of Knoxville wrestling. This nearly 4 hour program includes every match, a ceremony inducting nearly two dozen former greats into the Knoxville Wrestling Hall of Fame, plus incredible rare archival footage and photos tracing the city's wrestling history back to almost 50 years ago, most not seen publicly in decades.

Jim Ross and Les Thatcher call the matches (with optional commentary by Cornette & Meltzer). Extensive background footage precedes each match.

I would put this in the top 5 best wrestling cards of all time, alongside Wrestlemania III and Starrcade 1989. The whole DVD was well put together and the matches are superb!

I never had access to SMW nor did I grow up watching Knoxville wrestling. That being said, I would recommend this DVD for anyone. Seeing Jericho at an early stage in his career is great. While the Hall of Fame ceremony was a tad too long, this DVD does a great job with the recaps of what led up to the matches on the card. The angles were well done and much more logical than the stuff you see today. The commentary of Meltzer and Cornette is worth the price of this DVD alone.

Of all the Wrestling Gold DVDs that have been released, this is definitely my least favorite. The Thrillseekers/Heavenly Bodies match is a highlight that is worth seeing, but the rest of the action is not all that great. My main complaint centers around the history of wrestling and hall of fame induction ceremony. Though these events no doubt mean a great people to those who were around at the time to watch these legends, it wound up taking up too much time for somebody like myself who was not around to watch regional wrestling in Memphis.

However, I don't think you will be horribly disappointed if picking this DVD up as part of the overall Wrestling Gold collection. If nothing else, Jim Cornette and Dave Meltzer's commentary track is still top notch.
