Mac was introduced to the wrestling business when he became friends with Ron Fuller. Starting out as Fuller's right-hand man, Mac became a ten percent owner of the Knoxville, Tennessee, territory when Southeastern Championship Wrestling was originally formed. His career as a referee in Georgia began in Knoxville and ended as an official in Florida for the WWF.
